Ranjaka Pitta refers to the type of pitta that increases the formation of blood.

Locations:

• Red Blood Cells
• Liver
• Spleen
• Stomach

Functions:

• Blood formation from digested food
• Converts taste (rasa) into blood (rakta)
• Along with the quantity of the blood, it is also responsible for quality of the blood.¹
• Imparts color to the blood¹
• Indirectly, it is also responsible for the quality of the skin¹

Ailments due to its vitiation: 

• Anemia
• Jaundice
• Inflammation in liver, bone marrow or spleen¹
• Blood disorders
• Skin diseases including itching, pigmentation, skin breaks, inflammation, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis¹ 
• High blood pressure¹
• Hemmorhage¹
