Causes of vitiation:
- Food, drinks and sex during urge of urination
- Suppression of urge of urination
- Urine suppression especially by those suffering from tuberculosis
- Trauma of bladder or urinary passage
- Food and lifestyle mistakes, such as consuming foods which lead to vitiation of doshas
- One of the most common food and lifestyle mistake linked with issues in mutravaha srota is over or under consumption of water.

Symptoms and Diseases of Mutravaha srota vitiation:
- Excessive urination
- Frequent urination
- No urination
- Viscous urine
- Urinary incontinence
- Blood in urine
- Smell of urine in vagina
- Yellow color of semen and smell of urine in semen
- Calculi or cysts in the urinary tract
- Cancer of kidneys
- Diabetes can also be caused by vitiation of mutravaha srota
Treatment:
- Treatments done for difficult urination.
- Correcting food and lifestyle according to one's body type
- Identifying thirst and drinking water when thirsty (neither ignoring thirst, nor drinking water forcefully)
- Panchkarma cleaning depending on the type of imbalance
- Not suppressing the urge to urinate
