Cough

Ayurvedic Perspective of the Cause:

Excess pitta or kapha in the bronchial tree causing congestion and irritation of bronchial mucous membrane.

Recommendations:

• Boil a chopped clove of garlic, ¼ tsp of turmeric in a cup of milk. Take this before bed.
• In case of chronic cough, take trikatu and garlic powder in ratio 1:4 with some honey. Take this twice a day.

Recommendations for a child suffering from cough:

• Take ½ cup of pomegranate juice with a pinch of ginger powder and a punch of pippali powder.
• Take ¼ tsp of sitopaladi with 1 tsp of honey.

If you are allergic to honey, you can substitute it with maple syrup.
