Attributes

Attributes are judged on the basis of taste and effect of any item on body constitution.

Attributes are also referred to as Vimshadi Gunas as they are 20 in number. There are attributes as well, but 20 attributes are primarily studied. 

Attributes are judged on the basis of:

·        Taste

·        Effect on body constitution

The following 10 attributes are referred to as major attributes as these determine the constitution of most of the substances:

• Heavy - Light
• Cold - Hot
• Oily - Dry
• Slow - Sharp
• Stable - Mobile

In a substance - multiple attributes can exist together. For example, it is common for heavy and soft to exist together in many substances.
