Apana Vayu refers to the type of Vata which is the descending or downward moving force.

Functions:
- Elimination of waste (including urine, stool, flatus, menstrual blood)1

- Diabetes
- Premature delivery1
- Bloating in abdomen1

- Urinary incontinence1
- Premature ejaculation1
- Prolapse of the uterus, rectum1
- Reduction of interest in sexual activities1

- Constipation1
- Diarrhea1 - The cause of this type of diarrhea is overall weakness of the anal region
